He never quite fit in with the stereotypical expectations of what a rock star was supposed to be. Luckily for him it came at a time when those preconceptions were being thrown to the wind. He, Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine all worked together at a movie memorabilia shop in NYC during the early 1970s underground scene. His work as a Voidoid made him a much sought after bandmate and studio session player. His resume included Lou Reed, Lydia Lunch, Lloyd Cole, Tom Waits and Matthew Sweet. He checked out soon after his wife did the same.
