She left the New Yorker and her chair at Algonquin Round Table to head out west to give Hollywood a shot. Her screenplay for the original 1937 A Star is Born was nominated for an Oscar. She was sarcastic when being asked about being sarcastic. She was blacklisted during the MaCarthy Era.
