SIGRID UNDSET (1882 - 1949)

International bestselling author who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1928 for her Kristin Lavransdatter trilogy and the four volume work, The Master of Hestviken. In her portrayal of Nordic life during the Middle Ages she pushed the envelope on human sexuality while dealing with issues surrounding Catholic morality. She fled Norway during the Nazi aggressions during WWII.
