Binge

Binge emerged from Boston with a lineup built around singer and bassist KT Gelwick, guitarists Jimmy Muise and Paul Marrochello, and drummer Bill Morrissey.

The original One Way description called Binge “funk-punk,” but the group was never easily contained by one compound genre. Gelwick’s raw vocals and unsettled lyrics sat inside a dense guitar engine. Muise added vocal support and occasional leads; Marrochello and Muise supplied the riffs; Morrissey brought a melodic, heavy-footed approach that gave the songs muscle without flattening their hooks.

Binge’s documented contribution to the One Way catalog is “One More Cup,” preserved as the closing track on Dig the Boston Underground. Coming after fifteen recordings drawn from across the city’s independent-music community, the song gives Binge the compilation’s final word.
