The One Way Edition

Seven Songs Recovered Together

One Way released Too Far Gone as a seven-song CD in 1999. Digitally mastered at Tape Exchange by Marisa T. Dery, the disc originally sold through the One Way site for $7.99. The same complete sequence appeared on the 1999 One Way compilation Boston Retroactive, placing The Sextons beside other Boston artists whose recordings the label was already working to preserve.

Robin Vaughan wrote the songs and sang lead while playing rhythm guitar. Jennifer Smith supplied vocals and keyboards; Matt Ashare played lead guitar and sang; John Neidhart played bass and sang; and Roger Thom played drums. The arrangement of voices and instruments makes this a group record, but Vaughan’s songwriting is the thread connecting it to The Ex-Girlfriends, Velveteen and the rest of her surviving One Way catalog.
